ENGAGEMENT
and young adults, we recognize there
remains a knowledge and awareness
gap when it comes to understanding
career paths in construction outside of
skilled trades – speci昀椀cally, careers in
construction management.
As part of the “Construction Looks
Like Me” campaign to address the
stigma of what working in construction
looks like, Pathways also launched the
“What Does a Career in Construction
Management Look Like?” outreach
campaign, targeted towards increasing
awareness with high school educators
and students. Pathways will be reaching
out to school boards across Ontario to
deliver experiential learning sessions
to demonstrate what a career in
construction management, such as the
Estimator, Project Manager, or Site
Supervisor - could look like. The goal
being to increase awareness, inform, and
connect with individuals earlier about
the diverse career paths in construction
management.
Continuing to Build People Up Together
When people think about construction,
they generally think about the physical
structures. However, we know the most
important piece to construction is about
building people - speci昀椀cally building
people up - so that as companies, as
an industry, and in our communities,
we can do what we need to do: build
Ontario alongside people who feel
heard, included, empowered, and are
contributing and progressing.
OGCA’s Pathways to ICI, in addition to
the two newest initiatives shared above,
continues to develop and deliver the
core three program paths alongside our
members and our communities.
New Entrants Bridging Program
The program helps prepare individuals
interested in working in construction
who are looking to gain access to, and
be successful in, entry-level positions
such as Project Coordinator, Field
Engineer, Estimator, or similar roles in
Construction is for everyone.

ICI Construction. It provides online, selfpaced training to bridge knowledge and
competency gaps. The program includes
practical training – construction, position
and real-work scenarios - that have been
developed by people currently working in
the industry to help ease the transition for
people wanting to build successful careers
in the industry.
The Upskilling Toolkit
The toolkit focuses on softs skills
training delivered through positionspeci昀椀c scenarios that can be applied
and practiced on the job for immediate
and measurable impact. The Toolkit
focuses on 昀椀ve core competencies
developed for construction professionals,
by construction professionals, geared
towards Project Managers (PMs), Site
Supervisors (SSs), and individuals on the
track to becoming PMs and SSs.
We CAN: Make Space
The program provides tools and systems
for job growth to help companies
identify and implement opportunities for
advancement and promotion within their
teams, fostering recruitment, retention,
and succession planning strategies.
All three training paths are Gold Seal
Accredited with the Canadian Construction
Association (CCA).
