The District Municipality of Muskoka has introduced cuttingedge behavioural science strategies to transform solid waste
communications. These efforts aim to effectively connect
with residents amid significant service changes and shape the
future of waste management in Muskoka.
Recognizing the challenges in implementing the Clear Bag
Program and restructuring services, Muskoka emphasizes the
importance of transparent and engaging communication. This
new approach leverages digital platforms to ensure residents
are well-informed and actively involved in the transition.
Key efforts include a comprehensive online Waste
Management webpage designed with Muskoka-specific
insights and visuals, enabling easy access to crucial updates.
Through "Engage Muskoka," residents can interact via
project-specific pages, surveys, and news feeds. The “Know
Where It Goes" campaign utilizes social media as well the
Muskoka Waste App, offering informative content across
various platforms, and fostering community interaction
through video and posts.
