Simcoe County Road 93 Roundabout and Multi-Use
Trail – Connecting Communities
The County of Simcoe, in partnership with the Towns of
Midland and Penetanguishene, undertook a
comprehensive project to upgrade County Road 93,
enhancing safety, connectivity, and sustainability. Key
achievements include the construction of a two-lane
roundabout, 3.9 km of multi-use paths, and significant
stormwater management improvements.
The project addressed diverse transportation needs,
improved pedestrian and cyclist safety, and facilitated
enhanced traffic flow. Burnside's innovative design and
effective project management minimized disruptions
and incorporated sustainable practices, such as using
native plants and eco-friendly materials. The project
also included extensive public and stakeholder
engagement, addressing community concerns and
ensuring input was built into the final design.
Overall, the enhancements have made the CR 93
corridor safer, more accessible, and environmentally
sustainable, significantly improving the quality of life for
residents and visitors.
