Smarter Fleet – Safer Streets: The positive power of
technology enriched risk management
The City of Peterborough has advanced their use of integrated
technologies to optimize their fleet, routes, response times,
incident investigations & claims defense, community
engagement and so much more!
The Technology Showcase presentation provided a whirlwind
look at some of the partners and processes they use at
Peterborough Public Works. This included how they leveraged
technology to realize direct service improvements in the areas
of: Emergency Services, Business Continuity, Community
Engagement, Stronger partnerships and Financial Planning &
Management.
The use of smart technologies in their fleet has helped the
City better serve the community across their service lines
through route optimization, sanitation waste/collection, faster
service request responses, better winter control activity, and
predictive tools for storm response time, to name a few.
Overall, they have achieved a reduction of fleet accidents by
25% and in improved CVOR rating, resident and stakeholder
satisfaction has increased by 25% and complaints have
reduced by 18%.
The implementation has also helped reduce their insurance
rates and increased driver efficiency. This is just the beginning
of the improvements for the City of Peterborough and they
have many more plans for the future.
