2024 TERRY HARDY
EXEMPLARY SERVICE AWARD
ANGELA STOREY
Angela Storey's passion for public works began early, working at
her family's road building company, H Kerr Construction. She
transitioned to the City of Hamilton in 2000, during
amalgamation, and found her niche in escalated calls related to
essential services. By 2005, she moved into Public Works,
supporting various groups. In 2021, she became Director of
Waste Management.
Angela's involvement with the American Public Works Association
(APWA) deepened in 2011, and she became actively involved
with the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA), contributing
to education and serving on the West Central Branch Board. She
joined the OPWA Board of Directors and Executive Committee in 2017, serving as President in 2019 and helping
update the Chapter’s Strategic Plan. Angela is currently the CPWA representative, liaising with other Canadian
Chapters.
Angela cherishes the friendships and professional connections made through OPWA, particularly during travels
to APWA Congresses. She is grateful for the mentorship of Kealy Dedman, Debbie Korolnek, Michelle Albert, and
Betty Matthews-Malone, and for the support of Executive Director Brian Barber, who she says continues the
legacy of Terry Hardy. Angela is honored to receive the Terry Hardy Award of Excellence, recognizing her
commitment to volunteerism.
